Nobel Laureates agus Am!

D’fhoghlaíomar an amhrán iontach sin “Wake Me Up” as Gaeilge. Bhí sé go hiontach. Tuistí, bain triail as…..as Gaeilge dar ndóigh!!

Rinneamar suimiú agus dealú am an tseachtain seo. Bhí sé an-deacair ar dtús ach ansin phiocamar suas conas é a dhéanamh i gceart agus níl aon fadhb againn anois. Chaitheamar smaoineamh go bhfuil 60 nóiméad in aon uair amháin!

We did adding and subtracting time this week. It was a little tricky at first but then we all picked it up quite easily and have no trouble now! We just have to remember that there are 60 minutes in an hour.

Chruthaíomar tionscnaimh ar Nobel Laureates. Bhí an-craic againn ag cuir gach rud le chéile. Rinneamar;  Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa, Watson & Crick, Albert Einstein, W.B. Yeats agus Guglielmo Marconi. Bhí sé an-suimiúil agus d’fhoghlaíomar alán.

We created projects on Nobel Laureates.

We had great fun doing all the research. We did our projects on Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa, Watson & Crick, Albert Einstein, W.B. Yeats agus Guglielmo Marconi. It was really interesting and we learnt lots.

Bucket list: We all wrote a bucket list with goals to reach before the end of this year. For example, learning a new skill, reading a certain amount of novels, helping around the house a bit more or just saving for something in particular.

We decided to make our stories more interesting as we were all getting tired of using the word said – so we created 180 other words to replace it!

Bhí comórtas rith ar siúl ar an Aoine.  Ghlac go leoir páirt ach níor bhuaigh ach duine ó rang a 4 agus duine eile ó rang a 6. Níor thánig ár rang in aon áit L
Chuaigh Rose go dtí an “Ploughing Championship”, a bhí ar siúl i gCIll Chainnigh i rith na seachtaine agus thóg sí alán griangraifeanna éagsúla. Bhí go leoir daoine ann cosúil le Pat Kenny, Simon Coveney agus Nevin Maguire. Caithfidh go raibh am den scoth aici!!

There was an athletics race last Friday. Plenty of people took part but only someone from Rang a 4 and another from Rang a 6. Our class didn’t feature L
Rose went to the “Ploughing Championship”, that took place in Kilkenny during the week and she took a variety of photographs. There were plenty of people there including Pat Kenny, Simon Coveney agus Nevin Maguire. She must have had a super time!!

What a Seachtain!!

Táimid ag déanamh cóipleabhair idirghníomhach in sna mataí agus ag baint an-taitneamh as. An tseachtain seo rinneamar uimhreacha cearnaithe agus roinnt éagsúla. Táimid ag foghlaim alán.

Chomh maith le sin thosaíomar le Mangahigh agus ag imirt cluichí mata ar an idirlín- an cúl ar fad!!

We are currently putting together an Interactive Maths copy- a new fun way of giving maths a go and we are loving it!!
We also joined Mangahigh this week in preparation for maths week next month. It is super cool!!
Sa ghaeilge bhíomar ag foghlaim na briathra sa chéad réimniú. Tá tuiscint i bhfad níos fear againn anois!

In English we designed DVD covers for a number of different movies including our class favourite This Is Us!! Swoon Niall Horan!!

We also got out first copy of The Primary Planet magazine which is all about current affairs, fun articles and interesting facts. It is bursting with information and we love it!

Rinneamar Ealaín an-cúl an tseachtain seo. Líonamar isteach pictiúirí agus nuair a bhí sé sin déanta againn chuireamar faoin ceamra ar an iPad agus an iPhone iad agus léimeadar suas.

We used the very cool app coLAR mix to bring to life a variety of pictures we coloured in. It was amazing to see our pictures jumping and flying around.
Bhí Seachtain eile den scoth againn!!

Eggsperiments leis an Eggs-Factor!!!

An tseachtain seo léamar an scéal Olibhéar Ostrais faoi ostrais óg. Fuaireamar amach go raibh blaosc ubh an ostrais i bhfad níos mó ná ghnáth ubh ach ní chreideamar é go dtí gur thug Ben isteach ubh ostrais a fuair sé ó Dubai.

Seo é i gcomparáid leis na huibheacha eile a thugamar isteach go dtí an rang.

This week we participated in experimenting on making eggs bounce. We put the eggs in a cup and poured malt vinegar on top of the egg, in the end the eggs turned out bouncy. The sciencey bit was the fact that the acid in the Vinegar (which was only 5%!) managed to dissolve the shell of the egg.

An seachtain seo bhíomar ag baint trial as fínéagar
a doirteadh thar uibheacha, agus tháinig na
huibheacha amach nocht agus ag léimt timpeall na
 háite!! An cúl ar fad!

The eggs fizzed and sizzled as soon as the vinegar was poured into the cup. Thosaigh na huibheacha ag giosáil chomh luath is a doirteadh an fínéagar orthu!

Ealaín na seachtaine

An tseachtain seo rinneamar Ealaín Muintire (Folk Art) ó Meiriceá. Bhíomar ar féachaint agus ag obair iontach le healaíontóir Karla Gerard. D’úsáideamar a lán dathanna ach tháinig siad amach go hiontach ag an deireadh.
This week we focused on Folk Art by American artist Karla Gerard. It was a lot trickier than we had first anticipated but the intricate designs looked fabulous once coloured in.

Céad Seachtain i Rang a 5!!

Seamus Heaney recently passed away, so we decided to learn his poem Mid-Term Break. It was a very sad poem but we really liked it.
After Seamus Heaney passed away, everyone decided to do a project on a Nobel Laureate in groups.

We were doing synonyms  and we started doing them on colour charts, all various shades of green. We came up with four or five words on every chart.

The teacher ripped pages out of books and we made a non-rhyming poem out of some of the words.

Bhíomar ag deanamh contaetha na hEireann ach nior dobraigh sé amach
Romh mhaith!!
Rinneamar ealain le pastels agus carta.
Ni raibh sé ró dheacair, ach bhí sé go maith.
